Dear fellow Rotarians,

Greetings from the office of the president. Allow me to thank each one of you for all that you have done
for the Club ever since this Rotary year began. I also recognize our members who are serving beyond
Club level in high offices; Rtn. Charles Kabunga as an Assistant Governor, Rtn. Mebra Lwabaayi, who is
in charge of Rotary Family Health Days, Rtn. Robert Bariho for Mission Green.

This year began with a membership survey which over 50% of the members responded to. All your
concerns were taken note of and as requested for by the members, we shall have a retreat to discuss
the findings of the report. Those who haven’t responded, please do, so that your views are captured.
Looking at our attendance this month, I would say it is not where we would like to be as a Club. You
know your percentage in terms of attendance. Iam particularly happy that our end of the month
FITNESS FELLOWSHIP was attended very well and I was happy to see everyone participating. I look
forward to seeing more members attending this fitness fellowship! We think that you will not only keep
fit and healthy but the Club will save some little money since it is a paid up one. In terms of visiting, still
a few of us visit.

The President intends to be sending Ambassadors to Clubs to represent the Club. Club
Admin has a better plan for those who visit and those who do not visit. The number of visiting Rotarians
is picking up although our target is to have many more visiting Rotarians. I therefore, salute you the
reader of this message who is not from RC Makindye. We treasure your presence and we promise a
return visit to your Club!

This month of August as you may all be aware is MEMBERSHIP AND EXTENSION month. Without
members, we cannot have Rotary! I salute all those that have been visiting our Club in search of a Club
to join. I will single out one visitor whom I have watched even before I became a President; HON. AGNES
AMEEDE. I directed membership chair to start preparing you and please keep in touch with your mentor
I assigned to you; PP Elizabeth Luwugge. As a challenge, I call upon every member of RC Makindye to go
out there in the community and invite a friend, a relative.

On membership extension, Iam happy to announce that we are about to mother another Rotary Club; Rotary Club of Nakasero Central which sits
every Wednesday, 6Pm at Macknnon Suites. So far the Club boasts of 15 active members and about 10
that we are closely watching. If you have not yet visited this Club then you are missing a lot.
Rotary International President, Mark Maloney chose the theme “Rotary connects the World” As RC
Makindye, we are already connecting with other Clubs and Communities!
 On 9 th August 2019, the District Governor shall visit the three Rotary Clubs of Makindye, Bulindo
and Ntungamo in Ntungamo District.
 On 10 th August 2019, RC Makindye together with RC Bulindo, RC Ntungamo and Rotaract Club
of Makindye will launch the National August Rotary Family Health Day in Ntungamo District.
This is a big event that we should be proud of as a Club.
 We were also selected as one of the Rotary Clubs in the world to participate in the Zero
Hepatitis campaign. Testing Kits arrived and are with us. Shall have a tent specifically for this
campaign!
 On 13 th August 2019, Rotary Club of Bulindo will take over our fellowship
 On 27 th August 2019, we shall have a joint Fitness fellowship with the Rotary Club of Sunrise-Kampala.

Our Club also picked Rotary Cancer run tickets and I would like to applaud our officer Rtn. Pauline who is
doing a good job. My appeal to you is to help in selling so that we hit our target of 7.5 million in order to
qualify for a Tent in Kololo come 25 th August 2019.
My last appeal is on bonding: how many times do you call or check on any member? How many
fellowships did you attend for the last four weeks?

I end on a sad note: Mzee Salongo Joseph Kyavawa Nnyanzi, the father of our District Governor Xavier
Sentamu went to be with the Lord on Friday 2 nd August 2019.
On behalf of the Rotary Club of Makindye, I extend our sincere sympathies to the family of the late
and to our District Governor and his Family. May the soul of Mzee Rest in Peace.
